UK announces £100 million for AI Biosecurity Lab

Bloomberg reports the UK government announced £100 million for an AI Biosecurity Lab to detect and monitor biological threats. Citing a government statement, it says the lab will have up to £200 million in AI model credits from OpenAI and Anthropic and will work with Google DeepMind and Basecamp Research. The government also announced a separate £65 million to develop countermeasures for pathogens.
