SemiAnalysis posted that 5.6-sol rewrote the production kernel. The changes produced 20 percent lower serving costs from GPU kernel improvements and 15 percent better token-generation efficiency from improved speculative decoding. Savings were passed into Luna and Terra price cuts. In the same thread the account defined a kernel as a few hundred lines of GPU code that executes math and attention operations in an LLM and compared it to a popcorn kernel that bursts open when heated.
