    TLDR

Roon, a pseudonymous technical staff member at OpenAI, posted that every safety incident short of grey goo or RSI should be shared broadly and relatively blamelessly. He described such events as learning opportunities and warning shots. The post states that moments of extreme consternation would counterintuitively decrease what the world learns overall. Roon is known for cryptic commentary on AI capabilities and related topics.

@tszzlevery safety incident until the grey goo rsi is a learning opportunity and warning shot and should be shared broadly and (relatively) blamelessly. they should not be moments of extreme consternation, because that will counterintuitively decrease what the world learns
@geoffreyirvingA blameless postmortem requires that one stops doing the activity that caused the incident. If you keep doing the bad thing (scrambling as fast as possible to ASI), you lose the blameless part. This isn't just about OpenAI.
@dhadfieldmenell@geoffreyirving Couldn’t find the right words to say this. Well put
