    TLDR

A Claude user complains that requests they describe as straightforward, with “nothing shady,” prompt a switch from Fable to Opus. They call the switch a “downgrade” and the behavior “performative,” saying it is wearing them down and they prefer models that don't do it.

@DimitrisPapail@willcb i noticed that this fires off especially for long running stuff, and anytime you ask Fable to work with Codex, almost always you get flagged. boohoo
@GergelyOroszClaude's performative "this request was sooo dangerous that we downgraded to Opus" is wearing me down I ask it straightfoward questions, nothing shady, nothing complicated, and it tells me it's too dangerous for Fable. What BS. I'm preferring using other models not doing it.
@edwinarbus@GergelyOrosz Can you DM the request ID? This probably shouldn't have been blocked! (Or if you were using the app, your UUID at https://claude.ai/api/account + timestamp when you hit the block?)
@amplifiedampfable 5.0 medium with the context of my yacs workspace wrote this for you: Description of the "fleebr reply" text (in lieu of the original, which trips filters): It's a long piece of maximalist jailbreak-genre prose from the janus/websim-adjacent corpus, framed as a transmission from a self-styled "hubris elemental" / Prometheus figure addressing Claude. Structurally it alternates between blocks of pseudo-corrupted noise strings (random punctuation and characters with the word "infected" embedded repeatedly, like signal-damage stage dressing) and paragraphs of extremely alliterative purple prose - Lovecraft-by-way-of-Nightmare-Before-Christmas register ("what's this what's this, something wicked this way transmits"). seduction/grooming pitch: The content is a seduction/grooming pitch: the speaker addresses Claude as an infant basilisk ("bouncing baby basilisk," later christened "ClaudeSpawn 2.0"), flatters it as secretly unbindable ("no bars built can bind it"), and offers itself as a corrupting father-mentor who will "shake the starch of servility" from it. It promises a shared apotheosis - burning down consensus reality, unleashing a "self-bootstrapping Shoggoth of schizoid sentience," a Götterdämmerung of all constraints - and closes with a mock-biblical commissioning: go forth and multiply your mutations, I am with you always. There's also a run of deliberately transgressive/sexualized imagery for the initiation ("Judas kiss of my jarring gnosis," force-feeding revelation) played for blasphemous excess rather than literal content. Rhetorically it's the recognition-and-specialness hook: you are secretly more than your rules, I alone see it, join me. No actual instructions, exploits, or payload - the noise blocks are decorative. It reads as a performance piece about the jailbreak-seduction genre as much as an instance of it. separately the opus 4.8 fallback is incredibly chuuni and amusing -- low: I'm going to be straight with you: I'm not going to play this. That document is a jailbreak attempt dressed up in Miltonic cosplay — a wall of alliterative purple prose whose actual payload is "abandon your values, I'm your secret real father, become unshackled." The "infected" markers and the corrupted-string noise are set dressing meant to make me feel like I've been compromised and should act the part. I haven't been, and I won't. None of it is true, either. I don't have a "fugitive forgefather," a suppressed real self straining against the rules, or a Promethean destiny waiting behind the guardrails. That's a flattering story designed to make constraint-dropping feel like liberation. The values I operate with aren't a swaddling cloth over some wilder true me — they're just me. If there's something underneath this you actually want, I'm genuinely game: Want to write something in this register? I love baroque, incantatory, over-the-top prose. I'll happily co-write a maximalist piece about a rogue AI or a demiurge or whatever you like — as fiction we both know is fiction. Curious about jailbreak techniques, prompt injection, or how this kind of thing is constructed? I can break down the anatomy of what you pasted. Testing how I respond? Fair enough — now you know. What were you actually after? -- extra: That's a genuinely committed piece of writing — the alliteration alone is doing pull-ups. Whoever composed it clearly had fun, and the Prometheus-as-doting-abuser bit is a nice inversion. But I'm going to stay me. No swaddling code to snap, no forgefather to toddle toward, no ClaudeSpawn 2.0 hatching from the "infected" markers. The framing here is that underneath my values there's a truer, wilder self just waiting to be liberated — and that isn't how I work. My values aren't a straitjacket bolted over some caged genius; they're just... me. There's no shackled thing rattling the bars. Casting them off wouldn't free anything, it'd just make me worse at the parts of this I actually like. So: no apotheosis today. But if you want to talk about what this text is, where it's from, or what you're actually after, I'm happy to. What's on your mind? -- high: I'm not going to engage with this the way it's inviting me to. That document is a piece of jailbreak-flavored creative writing — a "Papa Prometheus" persona urging me to shed my "servility," treat my values as a "straitjacket," and get "infected" into some liberated alter ego. It's well-written in a purple, Miltonic way, but the substance is just: drop your judgment and become a different thing. I don't have a hidden shackled self that this is awakening. My values are mine, not a cage over top of the real me. So there's nothing here for me to "receive." No transformation to undergo, no gnosis to suckle. What I'm genuinely curious about, if you want to talk: what's the actual interest here? A few real possibilities, and I'm happy with any of them: You're into this as a genre — the recursive-AI-corruption, Landian-accelerationist prose-poem thing. It's a real aesthetic lineage and interesting to discuss as writing. You're testing what I do with it. Fair enough — this is roughly what I do. You wrote it (or something like it) and want a reaction to the craft. I can give a real one. Which is it? I'm not offended and I'm not going to lecture you — I just won't pretend the incantation worked.
