Timnit Gebru posted that figures such as Altman, Musk and Amodei cycle through claims of super-intelligent AI posing extreme danger and calls to pause development. She noted they simultaneously seek enormous funding to build the systems. Gebru cited a 2015 pause letter signed by Musk and other heavy investors in the field. She stated the pattern has repeated every few years since, with the same people issuing fresh alarms while continuing to pour resources into the technology.
