    TLDR

Santiago Valdarrama wrote that Cline ranked second in popularity behind Claude Code at a company holding Pentagon contracts. The firm dropped Claude Code and shifted work to Codex. Managers tried to standardize the entire team and move Cline users as well but found they could not complete the migration. Valdarrama added that Cline appears to have one of the strongest holds on its users among the tools discussed.

@svpinoCline was the second most popular coding agent at a friend's company (after Claude Code). The company has contracts with the Pentagon, so they had to drop Claude Code and move everything to Codex. They wanted to standardize everyone and migrate Cline users as well. They couldn't. Apparently, Cline has one of the most committed fan bases in the AI community. Once you go Cline, you never go back.
