US government orders Anthropic to disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models globally over foreign access concerns

There were some announcements this week on this including from Cosine, and SovAI and BBB have made a number of investments, public ones include Wayve, Ineffable Intelligence and Isomorphic.

The Govt also designated a datacenter as critical national infrastructure recently, as we need more domestic compute to serve these companies ( and secure our data etc ).

But as stated on the website - we need to, and intend to do much more to support British AI companies at every part of the stack.

James, do we actually have any sovereign AI models in the works in the UK? We need it desperately. China has open source, France has Mistral, the US has the frontier labs. The UK is the base for frontier labs outside the US, which is great, but doesn’t mean much if they can just turn off the taps.

We need to be training and building models here.

Another reminder of just how critical sovereign AI capabilities are.

@Jameswise @UKSovereignAI It’s true that we definitely need to build sovereign capabilities; however, Anthropic post says foreign nationals even inside countries, so it means a sovereign model with visa checks and RBAC.

Also, definitely check opportunities.
