Sam Lessin on Belief Glut in Early-Stage Venture

Sam Lessin, founding partner at Slow Ventures and former VP Product at Facebook, posted on X that early stage venture in 2026 has a glut of belief. He asked whether the field now turns on strategy and execution. Lessin recalled that for most of his experience the edge came from willingness to believe an idea everyone thought was bad, that a pipsqueak startup could smash an incumbent, or that a market was bigger than assumed.
