Uber announces ChatGPT Work access for more than 30,000 employees

Uber announced on Oct. 22, 2026, that it was starting a company-wide rollout of ChatGPT Work, making it available to more than 30,000 employees worldwide. OpenAI’s announcement says the expansion follows an initial pilot with 1,000 employees.

OpenAI describes ChatGPT Work as an agent within ChatGPT Enterprise that connects with Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack. The company says it can help employees prepare meeting briefs and presentations, analyze data and complete workflows across applications. Uber plans to support the rollout with an internal AI skills library, approved integrations and training for teams including operations, finance, marketing and product. Its developers and software engineers will also continue using Codex, according to OpenAI.

During the pilot, about 80% of early adopters were non-engineers, Uber VP of engineering Sumanth Sukumar told TechCrunch. He described employees analyzing operations data, localizing training materials and building dashboards. Sukumar said Uber will examine employees’ usage, workflows and effectiveness to guide future deployment. TechCrunch reported that Uber did not disclose what it was spending on the rollout. OpenAI says the companies plan to share insights into adoption, use cases and measurable outcomes as it progresses.
