    TLDR

One post criticizes what its author sees as excessive deference to funders in effective altruism and AI safety circles. The author recalls people dismissing multi-agent risks who now focus on the issue, using that shift to argue for independent judgment about what matters. Their advice: "You should convince funders of your position, not the reverse."

@HopkinspolicyI remember talking about multi-agent risks to people that are now SWARMING (pun intended) on multi-agent risks since the UK AISI, OpenAI, & Anthropic incidents and them back then being like "that sounds like a Seb take" in a dismissive fashion -- let the record show @sebkrier has prescient insights here and also that I have been always ahead of the curve on new EA trends (law, policy/Congress, advocacy, AIxBio). Please please please, don't let what others think is important guide what you think is important. I see way too much deference in EA and AI safety circles towards people that offer funding. Like, if Seb was a rich person a bunch of people would have Seb takes! But this shouldn't be the case! You should convince funders of your position, not the reverse. Think for yourselves!!!! *shaking fist at the sky*
