Travis Kalanick said on X that Atoms has raised a $1.7 billion equity round, led by a16z, with Ben Horowitz joining the board. Kalanick said the deal also merges his businesses into one Atoms equity structure. TechCrunch reported that Uber, Bain Capital, Fifth Wall and others participated. Kalanick and a16z are pitching Atoms as a long-running effort to bring robotics and AI into physical industries like food, mining and transportation.
