Joshua Achiam said in a post on X that he is leaving OpenAI later this month after joining as an intern in 2017, writing that there was "not a specific reason" for the move and that it now feels possible to work on the AGI mission "from outside the walls of a frontier lab." WIRED and The Verge both reported that Achiam is departing after nearly nine years at the company.
