Apparently learning things is "class solidarity with plutocrats."

The Foucault-loving Marxist "victim" frame requires that women remain helpless. A celebrity telling women to learn skills threatens the entire edifice because it implies they have agency.

We need more… brave journalists bravely protecting women from the terrifying danger of learning useful skills. Because nothing says ‘I care about women’ like telling them that picking up AI is class treason and they should stay helpfully helpless instead.

I still know people who refused to "learn" the internet and computers because it looked too complicated but eventually got in on smartphones and are on them all the time.

Once AI becomes easier to use, clean UIs, and trickles into consumer electronics/b2c, the sentiment will change.

Telling women to approach it with suspicion first instead of curiosity first is terrible advice. The people who learn these systems early will shape how they’re used, where they’re deployed, and what safeguards actually matter. Opting out doesn’t protect you it just guarantees other people set the defaults.

@garrytan When media and politicians say “AI,” they talk like it’s one monolithic thing. It’s not. There are dozens of AI tools—writing, editing, research, productivity, video, music, image processing—each built for totally different jobs. Treating them as one blob is just lazy.
