Anthropic draws social media commentary on Chinese nationals
Anthropic has drawn social media commentary regarding Chinese nationals employed at the company amid US-China tensions. A Canadian research engineer previously at X and Stripe posted that it would be awkward for such staff to work there. A second engineer described Anthropic personnel as practical technologists who set aside public hostility toward China and linked the company's positions on open-source AI and the CCP to shared ideological goals plus future rewards.
just practical people who love tech and can ignore a public image play of hostility towards the one country who will commoditize their non-existent intellectual moat
they hate on open-source under the name of safety, they hate on ccp under the name of an authoritarian regime, but really in both these cases it's a rallying cry for a cultural ideological moat that keeps everyone together (on top of future promised financial rewards, which increases in proportion to a constant stream of anti-oss, anti-ccp, anti-employment propaganda)
Imagine being chinese and working for Anthropic. Awwwkward
