    TLDR

Kanjun Qiu, co-founder and CEO of Imbue, posted that an agent-first mobile OS free of Apple and Google restrictions could let agents handle tasks directly. She described using ChatGPT to edit a video, only to face extra steps when the app lacked a download option and required uploading the file to Google Drive instead. The post presents her view that current ecosystems create unnecessary friction for agent interactions.

@kanjunI feel like we’re ripe for an agent-first mobile OS that’s free from Apple/Google’s walled gardens, where agents can actually do stuff for me. Like, this interaction was ridiculous: I had ChatGPT edit a video but the app has no download feature, so it had to upload to Google Drive and I clicked around a bunch to download to my phone’s filesystem. We can obviously do better! “Clicking around” will be a thing of the past in 10-20 years. Question is just who builds this new OS.
