White House Issues AI Executive Order as US Explores Equity Stakes in OpenAI

In the past 3 days:

1. White House issues Executive Order with a "voluntary framework" under which new frontier AI models with significant cybersecurity capabilities will be provided to the USG for up to 30 days before they can be released to "trusted partners".

2. USG holds early talks with OpenAI and others regarding taking equity stakes in these companies.

3. Sarah Friar says that OpenAI model training mostly takes in place in the U.S. "for USG reasons for making sure that a nationl asset and effect is happening on U.S. soil".
