The user said noninteractive Codex calls consistently refused to give numerical scores to governance or policy stories—even though those topics were the focus of their lab’s newsletter.

    TLDR

A user testing Astra for automated newsletter curation reported on September 5 that it refused to give numerical scores to governance or policy stories. In a September 7 follow-up, they narrowed the issue: the API had no problem reranking stories, while headless (noninteractive) Codex calls consistently refused.

@sethlazarOk had a minute to reproduce this, and it turns out behaviour is different in the API from when using headless calls to codex. API has no problem with reranking, codex consistently refuses.
