What I have realized is that most of robotics figure on twitter have never worked with robots. Everything he said is not controversial to a roboticist. Try unlocking your door with very thick gloves. That's the sensing robots are missing. Vision was never enough.
Many users dismissed robotics concepts and demos as immature puppetry or rage-bait in response to the argument that vision-only systems fail at precise manipulation, while a few agreed or voiced optimism about future robot capabilities.

@Control_wiz yes

@Control_wiz even the concept of a robot is very immature. everyone just thinks humanoids dancing in china

@yacineMTB Bro some of your post must be rage-bait. We agree on points and you then say some crazy shit like " sim2real is easy ".

@Rajvardhan10914 @yacineMTB It's puppetry.

@Control_wiz i've done sim2real. as long as you don't make any mistakes it will work one shot

@yacineMTB @Control_wiz Dancing robot dosent mean anything tbh

@yacineMTB That doesn't mean it's easy. It's easier for some classes of robotics. For autonomous driving and no contact envs, ya. But even there it's very hard to model human behavior. For contact envs like grasping, no env is realistic. There is always a huge gap in friciton modeling.

@Control_wiz just randomize the distribution of all possible frictions

@yacineMTB @Control_wiz Can a robot make a crepe? Will it come up with different ways to achieve the crepe? That's why I force my robot slave to make me loads of crepes so I can find the answer. But yes, robots will come up with new ways to traverse through space(which will be strange to our eyes)

@Control_wiz “You - who have always used touch as a critical sensory input - struggle when we take that away” is not a compelling argument for this position.
You’re right, but this isn’t a good argument.

@Control_wiz i've gotten sim2real to do fly drones over a radio link with latency
