@benjamin_horne God these takes are dumb. Anthropic founders have been saying the same thing about AI risk for years. The entire reason Anthropic was founded was because they disagreed with OpenAI’s safety stance.

I'm not saying they've never said this before.

I'm saying that their bullshit "the end is nigh" posturing that implies that they're actually *getting close*—and is being put out via their online channels in a highly intentional fashion & at increasing rate in the lead up to the IPO—is a blatant marketing strategy to help justify their massive valuation.

Pointing out that this ins't the first time they've made claims about safety is not interesting.

@benjamin_horne What you can’t seem to understand is that they actually believe what they are saying and are saying it because the thing they care about most - yes even more than money - is making AGI go well. They are completely earnest in what they are saying.
