    TLDR

Yacine, identified as a Canadian systems engineer focused on reinforcement learning and robotics with prior roles at X and Stripe, posted that Astra still requires supervision. He stated the tool is making incorrect calls on modifications to his physics engine intended for dingbotics.com. The post suggests GPT-7 may reach a point where code review is no longer needed. Replies largely called Astra overhyped and incremental because its code feels sloppy and unreadable, it still needs heavy steering, and it burns credits fast, while a few noted quicker task completion or clearer output.

@yacineMTBAstra unfortunately still needs me to baby sit it. Maybe gpt-7 is when I don't have to read the code anymore (Concretely, it is making the wrong calls on changes to my physics engine meant for https://dingbotics.com)
@teortaxesTexAstra C++ code is… not superhuman but it is nonhuman (fucking unreadable density)
@DimitrisPapailI'm relieved to report that GPT-6 in codex still requires steering for hard problems.
@zebassemblySo far I've only used Rust with Astra, but so far this code is like the sloppiest slop i've ever seen. It all works well and the abstractions are pretty damn good, but holy shit this code looks rancid.
@xeophonRT @zebassembly: So far I've only used Rust with Astra, but so far this code is like the sloppiest slop i've ever seen. It all works well…
@GrantSlattoni concur with some other observers that Astra's nuts and bolt code is overly RL'd on being golfed, despite the model itself being clearly smarter it inlines tons of complicated exprs into unreadable jumbles need astra-lint
