@gokulrInvesting in AITAN I first met @allzewe (Daniel Almog) and @udioster (Udi Oster) in 2014 when they were running their startup Tapingo. It was instantly clear that they were an exceptional pair of entrepreneurs, combining superb product instincts with serious commercial ability. Tapingo reached massive scale on a fraction of the budget of the large delivery companies because its product was genuinely differentiated. It was acquired by GrubHub for $170M. We didn’t get the chance to work together then, but I promised myself that if another opportunity came along, I wouldn’t miss it. Thankfully, that opportunity came with their new company, @AITANsystems. AITAN builds advanced edge-AI robotic weapon systems that give allied militaries sovereign robotic combat power. Its technology is combat-proven and sovereign by design, allowing nations to field, improve, and sustain these capabilities on their own terms. AITAN brings drones, sensors, and autonomous systems together through 3 core technologies: (a) Universal C2: a vendor-agnostic command layer for diverse robotic fleets, (b) AI and Autonomy Kits: technology that makes off-the-shelf platforms combat-ready, and (c) An AI SDK: software that runs a nation’s own models across its fleet. AITAN's platform has been operating at scale since 2023, and has logged more than 500,000 combat hours in the field. In defense robotics, every deployment produces new information. Adversaries change tactics. Radio-frequency conditions shift. Countermeasures evolve. Batteries degrade. Systems have to keep working through all of it. Those 500,000 hours (and growing!) create a compounding product improvement loop for AITAN. AITAN’s open, hardware-agnostic architecture lets militaries choose their preferred robotics and manufacturers, command different fleets through one interface, and update their systems as missions and threats change. Nations retain control over how their robotic forces are built, operated, and improved. Daniel and Udi understood early that autonomous hardware becomes far more useful when different systems can work together. Their approach combines battle-tested autonomy with sovereign, vendor-agnostic coordination. . Excited to support Daniel, Udi and the AITAN team as they expand in the U.S., Europe, and Asia and bring the power of autonomous robotic systems to Allied nations across the world.
