Flo State launches as a native, open-source Markdown editor for macOS
Its creator says the project began as a fork of the web-based Writer editor before they turned to Opus 5.5 for a from-scratch rewrite in Swift.
TLDR
Flo State’s creator announced a minimalist macOS Markdown editor written entirely in Swift and released under the GPLv3 license. The announcement claims a 0.3-second launch time, 0.0% CPU use when idle and 51MB of memory, compared with 3% idle CPU and 500MB-plus of memory for Electron editors. The creator says the project started as a Writer fork, received design and performance tweaks, and was then rewritten from scratch using Opus 5.5.
