Claude reportedly authored more than 80% of code merged into Anthropic’s systems

DailyAITechNews, citing figures published by Anthropic, says Claude authored more than 80% of the code merged into the company’s own systems as of May. Engineers were shipping about eight times as much code as in 2024, largely by directing Claude rather than typing. According to the account, Anthropic says a model cannot yet fully design its successor on its own. The company also warns that if that self-improvement loop closes, maintaining control gets harder, not easier.
