OpenAI launches GPT-6.1 Sol with lower API prices and paid-plan access
API pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. OpenAI reports near-Astra results on several coding and work evaluations.

GPT-6.1 Sol launches in ChatGPT Work, Codex and the API. Standard input and output prices are $2 and $10 per million tokens, a fifth of Astra’s; cached input is $0.10. OpenAI reports matching Astra on DeepSWE v1.1 at roughly a fifth of the cost and fewer factual errors than GPT-6 Sol on deliberately difficult prompts, which it says do not represent typical use. Paid-plan users get access in Work and Codex, but not yet in Chat. An Ultrafast option is planned for the coming days.
