    TLDR

    Dimitris Papailiopoulos reported using Fable 5.1 since morning for a multi-day hard math problem spanning Codex and CC threads. He called it more creative than Sol and far ahead of opus 5. Yuchen Jin posted that the model talks like a normal human rather than Claudish, remains weaker than GPT-5.6 Sol at web search, yet outperforms GPT models at frontend work, while keeping Kimi K3 as daily driver. sdmat described the model as better at grasping big-picture codebase structure and coordination. Victor Taelin noted an extremely productive day and said the model felt launch-ready.

    @danshipperRT @hammer_mt: My Fable 5.1 review:
    @theoNot particularly surprising, but Fable 5.1 is also a really good model.
    @DimitrisPapailBeen using Fable 5.1 since this morning in CC and it feels as a far better model than F5, more creative than Sol, and won't even compare to opus 5 :). This is my experience on using 5.1 to take over a long horizon (5+ days) hard math problem that I've been running across multiple Codex and CC threads. It also talks less Claudish!
    @VictorTaelinanother day like today and we might be launch ready! so much done in a day. what an incredibly productive model!! good night ^-^
    @matthewmilleraiFable 5.1 is the best model I have ever used. I have thrown everything at it since it dropped. Every single task, done to perfection. The one shot capabilities are unlike anything I have seen. You ask once and it just delivers. But the thing that actually blew me away is security. I can hand Fable 5.1 security tasks and it does not fall back or refuse. It found and patched vulnerabilities in my codebase that Fable 5 refused to. This is the fastest I have ever felt AI advance. And GPT Astra and Grok 4.7 are both about to release. The world is about to change.
    @sdmat123After a day of Fable (New): it's a big step up for working on a serious codebase. The model is better at seeing the big picture, better at understanding how the parts fit together, and it coordinates more dexterously than its predecessor. For example it noticed that a large piece of work Fable 5 had deferred could substantively be done now with some rearrangement, and it organized that perfectly. 5.1 was so effective at coordination that I productively burnt through a Codex sub and will have to rethink model use to sustain the pace, which is the right kind of problem to have. I can't comment on actual coding abilities or otherwise assess in detail, because Anthropic dishes out usage like it's in the platinum group. But it is an impressive model. Hopefully Astra is even more so!

    @Yuchenj_UWDay 1 impressions of Fable 5.1: - talks much more like a normal human now, less Claudish. - web search still feels worse than GPT-5.6 Sol. It often misses the key things to search for. - still much better than GPT models at frontend. - my daily driver is now Kimi K3. We dogfood it heavily at Databricks, and you’d be surprised how good it is.
    @altryne@Yuchenj_UW hahaha how is the last bullet point an impression of 5.1? 😂 As in, if this was good/cheap enough it would be my daily driver but nah?
    @peterjliu@Yuchenj_UW Kimi K3? What is your monthly token budget?
