US officials reportedly discussed taking equity in AI companies.
Canada launched its national AI strategy this morning, and if you live in Canada the federal government may fund, provide compute to, and possibly even take a stake in your idea. They also plan to provide access to AI agents for every post-secondary student, which sounds like a nice contract for somebody.
I've had an idea for something agents will subscribe to, so I might do this. but I'm going to see how far I can go with Chatty and Claude myself first.

@AndrewCurran_ How does this help an average citizen ? Can we apply for some scholarships to learn these AI courses or certifications free of cost and where do we apply them ?

@AndrewCurran_ the 'AI agents for every student' part is bold. Canada has roughly 1 million post-secondary students and nobody asked what happens when the agent takes the exam.

@AndrewCurran_ A lot of this sounds good but I'm really skeptical of what ever "Sovereign AI" means. They seem to be leaving it pretty vague but I really don't see us building our own frontier model.

@phrygiandomina @AndrewCurran_ It could be a model at the Arctic Frontier, trained on snow and darkness mostly. Co-op with the Nordics, distilled to run on an old Nokia phone? Need to be fast, the French are ahead with their Rhône-Parmesan sovereignty.
@AndrewCurran_ Well even if we are just building datacenters for US labs, I suppose it still gives us good leverage and exposure if a substantial amount of openai/anthropic compute is in Canada.
@thisIsTlak @AndrewCurran_ Both Open AI and Anthropic have free courses. But, the models themselves are able to do this. I know zero code and I currently y have vibe coded an openclaw autonomous agent, an API Web App with persistent memory and my own 4 layered pg vector system. All you have to do is ask.
@AndrewCurran_ @thisIsTlak Yes and no. As usage transitions to a utility based system access to frontier intelligence decreases. ChatGPT Free usageales it functionally useless and you can’t access thinking models. Claude’s is worst. groks is really good but it doesn’t get the enterprise use.

@thisIsTlak @AndrewCurran_ Hence why Canada having its own frontier models being used for data and training being so important. Having our population using foreign market intelligence means they control the knowledge. We want AI in Canada run by Canadians as frontier models evolving with Canadian interest
