Positive users praise the Codex app as the best and a pleasure to use, while negative users criticize its slowness, unreliability, and issues like random bans.

@BHolmesDev Crazy numbers for codex app

@BHolmesDev Accelerating

Sound off if you're using something else too

(you know my vote. It rhymes with Shwarp)

@BHolmesDev Warp

@theo wtf

@BHolmesDev Cursor

@BHolmesDev cursor + codex

Codex CLI and Claude code CLI with ShellX ShellX 0.2.11 - Desktop app so you can use Grok Build CLI, Claude Code CLI, Codex CLI from anywhere (Windows, macOS, WSL, or SSH) in one clean interface. ShellX preview panel for files/web/expo apps. Voice Chat, Grok Imagine (images + video), GPT Image 2, Build Mode, Agent Orchestrator API, Terminal, Secure vault, X search, drag and drop files, send to ShellX from right click menu, Use different model powers in same session https://theshellx.com https://github.com/martinsbrezauckis/shellx

@theo @BHolmesDev yeah, makes sense. codex app feels less like chat and more like a work queue for code, which is probably why people keep going back to it.

@BHolmesDev fun fact: you can mail a printed copy of your code to OpenAI's HQ with instructions on what you want to do (in any language!), and they'll send you back a printed copy of the updated code within 7 business days. try it!

@BHolmesDev CLIs for ai dev are hilarious. Like “GUIs are still an unproven efficiency tool.”
I like visual previews, an accessible index, a font from this millennium, and a built-in browser.

@BHolmesDev I'm not sure how to take your level of surprise about this but nothing has given me a compelling enough reason to leave Cursor. It's awesome.

@theo @BHolmesDev quite noisy tbh

@BHolmesDev I can confirm #1 is correct. Everything else doesn’t even matter.

@BHolmesDev Why is @opencode not on the list!?!?!

@BHolmesDev I'm stuck with Codex CLI, they can't seem to nail proper integration with WSL.

@BHolmesDev I use them this way

@BHolmesDev GUIs in the IDE ✅

@BHolmesDev Fascinating to see CLIs in an IDE ranking last. Claude Code + Cursor doesn't feel like a CLI workflow. It's just an agent running while you stay in your editor.
