@svpinoTons of people who want to learn computer vision don't know what to build to start learning. Here is a really good opportunity to jump right into the deep end: Amazon Developers is running a virtual hackathon. You can participate solo or with a team, and there are $190,000 in prizes. The Ring track focuses on building with Amazon computer vision APIs, which is gold for anyone who wants to work with cameras and computer vision. Here are a few ideas: 1. Build a package delivery detector that identifies when a package is left at the door and sends a notification with a snapshot. 2. Recognize when your dog is waiting by the door and notify you that it wants to come inside. 3. Count how many people enter and leave your office or studio on any given day. 4. Use the camera to detect whether the garage door is open and alert you if it stays open too long. You have 8 weeks to build a working demo. Best case, you'll win some prize money. Worst case, you'll learn a ton and have a pretty cool demo to show during interviews. Here is what I can tell you: Getting your hands dirty and building something here is 10x better than watching another tutorial. The submission window closes on October 23rd. Use the link below to register: https://fandf.co/4xYAmPw Winners will be announced on Dec 3rd. Thanks to the @AmazonAppDev team for partnering with me on this post.
