@teortaxesTex landing a man on the moon by 2050 is a weak objective. china today is richer than the US was in the 1960s. they should be aiming for landing a man on mars
Except for the World Cup, won't take remotely so long I think
Mechanize co-founder Ege Erdil uses an economic benchmark to question whether a 2050 crewed lunar landing sufficiently tests China's present-day resources, instead floating a crewed Mars landing as the more fitting stretch goal.

Erdil points out China's current economy exceeds the size of America's during the 1960s Apollo years, a fact that underpins his call to raise the target beyond the Moon.
No primary sources confirm an official Chinese 2050 Moon landing target, and the post supplies no engineering or budget details on shifting to Mars, so feasibility stays unaddressed.
Users dismissed the proposal for a manned Venus landing as pointless.

@teortaxesTex the really ambitious target might be "land a man on venus". would like to see someone take that one up
unfortunately seems far too outside the realm of possibility for anyone to even consider it. we're still a primitive species in the grand scheme of things
@teortaxesTex lol
@EgeErdil2 I don't think it's that hard. If you can throw a few hundred tons to the surface of Venus, which Elon intends to make possible, you can also have enough power generation on board, and thus cooling. It's a bit pointless though. The suit would be crazy

@EgeErdil2 Perhaps they want to concentrate their strength on the World Cup, which will postpone easier projects

@teortaxesTex @EgeErdil2 The whole thing is pretty pointless, yeah
