Sure. But talking alone isn’t enough. music samplers can “talk” by reproducing and resynthesizing voices but that doesn’t mean they are conscious.

Some form of AI might conceivably (depending on your criteria) be conscious but I agree with @anilkseth that is no more reason to think that LLMs are conscious than to think that AlphaFold is.

LLMs are something like samplers; they can mimic humans talking about pain or orgasm or the experience of being a parent or (of loving a work of art) but that doesn’t mean they actually *feel* any of that.
