Chew’s former thesis supervisor said on September 12 that she would head to UW for a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering with Pang Wei Koh. The supervisor said her master’s thesis led to joint work on BILBO—bilevel Bayesian optimization—published at ICML 2025. Chew also recently led a joint effort to develop a benchmark intended to make black-box optimization research for expensive large language model tasks more accessible, according to the same account.
