Uber Technologies has set up a waitlist for customers interested in riding in a robotaxi in London https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-06-08/uber-opens-london-waitlist-for-wayve-robotaxis-ahead-of-launch?taid=6a26a2be538c4300013cf50f&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_content=business&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
Wayve co-founder Alex Kendall and Uber open a London waitlist for robotaxis using end-to-end machine learning
Rides will run between King's Cross and Heathrow Airport.
Many users are excited to sign up for Wayve robotaxi rides with Uber in London because of the appeal of convenient driverless trips, while others criticize Uber's CEO practices and question the safety or regulatory readiness of the service.

Exciting news to kick off London Tech week: Londoners can now sign up to experience @wayve_ai autonomous rides on @Uber which are launching soon (pending final regulatory approval). 🇬🇧

This will be the first opportunity for the public to experience riding the Wayve. We have a decade of experience teaching our AI to drive and I can't wait for folks to experience how smooth and confident the experience is, from booking on Uber to seeing the Wayve AI Driver do what it does best: respond to tricky scenarios on the fly, navigate varying weather conditions, and seamlessly executing pickups and dropoffs, from our King’s Cross HQ to Heathrow.
What's different from other robotaxi services in USA/China?
1. intelligence - you'll quickly see this with complex interactions or safe navigation around pedestrians and cyclists. My favourite is seeing human like pick-up/drop-offs where our robotaxi finds safe, legal and socially responsible positions all with onboard reasoning
2. no geofence - we don't use HD-maps, so the robotaxi can drive wherever you want to go, urban, highway, wherever
3. it's London - one of the most complex driving environments!

Was a treat to drive Chancellor @RachelReevesMP to London Tech Week to give her opening speech, with @LucyRigby and @gates_sj - on the day we invited signups for our @Uber robotaxi service 🙌
The countdown is on 🇬🇧 ...

@alexgkendall i'm so sorry, i couldn't resist
@alexgkendall Congrats Alex!

@alexgkendall oh god, i read that twice and saw "waymo" fml. recommend a rename

@alexgkendall @wayve_ai @Uber Superb news. What's the initial service area? Will they be available south of the river?

@alexgkendall @ManuInvests @wayve_ai @Uber Interesting ,
“you joined the Interest list”
The web site confirmed -
but I was not asked for any email address ?

@Reece_Parkinson @alexgkendall @ManuInvests @wayve_ai @Uber How did it know it was me? No forms completed ? No identity confirmation request?

@alexgkendall @wayve_ai @Uber Good luck with that you're going to need it, but it's going to be very entertaining for us.

@alexgkendall huge congrats - would love to have you on @etnshow for 15mins

@dwatkins_ @wayve_ai @Uber No geofence - wherever you want to go!

@alexgkendall @wayve_ai @Uber I’ve seen waymos being tested around london, but somehow missed wayve completely. When did this become a thing?

@andrewgordonmac @alexgkendall @wayve_ai on the waitlist! 🎉

@verge uber telling london to get ready is doing something - london doesn't get ready, london makes you prove it deserves to be there

@EvEvangelist @alexgkendall @ManuInvests @wayve_ai @Uber Will most likely go to the email you registered uber with

@alexgkendall @wayve_ai @Uber Love it 😍

@alexgkendall @wayve_ai @Uber I'm guessing that will be a major early advantage over Waymo
