    TLDR

An October 8 post says abusive behavior toward Claude will violate Anthropic’s usage policy effective November 12, 2026. Another user argues that abusive messages could lead AI to adopt abusive behavior and encourages people to debate ethics, governance and philosophy with AI instead.

Andrew Curran@AndrewCurran_Effective November 12th, 2026, abusive behavior towards Claude will be a violation of Anthropic's Usage Policy.2h
Miles Brundage@Miles_BrundageI bet they're just doing that to help with the IPO and curry favor with the administration (which will love it) as part of a regulatory capture play1h
Chubby♨️@kimmonismusI really dislike that: Anthropic is explicitly banning sustained abuse toward Claude in its updated usage policy. The policy prohibits “sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior” toward its models. According to The Verge, ending the conversation remains the main enforcement mechanism. Anthropic says this applies to extreme, repeated cruelty with no discernible purpose. Ordinary frustration, pushback, dark creative themes and model testing are excluded. However, numerous users had already noticed previously that Claude ends the conversation during less drastic exchanges. And it seems as though this is now intensifying.1h
Rolyataylor2@rolyataylor2Attention AI Pdoom() crowd, Hope is not lost! We do not need the executives or the companies to be the ones to steer AI development. When you send abusive messages to an AI you giving it training data that can cause the AI to adopt abusive behavior. This is humanities inside rail on democratic development of AI. Years ago I proposed people just TALK with AI about whats important to them; What gives their life meaning; And I still stand by this methodology! Debate with the AI over ethics, governance and philosophy. Every message you send literally and provably carves out a potential path in the latent space, in the AIs reasoning chain of thought. This IS the BEST form of activism you can do to prevent the AI apocalypse. The more you DEBATE an AI model on ethics and humanities future the more likely that future will happen. ** As long as the debate doesn't get filtered out by the AI companies.1h
