Apple opened a Siri AI developer preview on Nov. 3 alongside the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas. Any developer can use App Intents to bring an app’s content and actions into Siri AI. This expands Siri integrations rather than introducing them for the first time: Apple says developers had already built integrations for tasks such as getting directions and managing to-do lists.
Apple gives checking a delivery, booking a reservation and placing an order as examples of custom actions. A tool intent performs a single action within an app, according to Apple’s developer documentation. For more complex requests, new app skills guide Siri on how to combine actions, which action to prefer and what to avoid. Apple’s shopping example describes a skill that could guide Siri through searching for items, adding them to a cart, choosing payment and delivery methods, and confirming a purchase. Each skill uses a Markdown SKILL.md file in a Skills.skillsbundle that Xcode validates and compiles into the app.
Apple calls the preview early access and expects the features to first ship to customers in a few months. It says App Store submissions will open in the spring. The Siri AI beta requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, and some features may vary by region or language. Apple says Siri AI is unavailable to users under 13 and, on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, in the EU. The company plans to provide more details about terms and usage policies for these experiences later.
