For what it’s worth, I think it’s a good thing that the President decided to cancel that AI/cyber EO. The portion on pre-deployment vetting was too close to a licensing regime, and it’s especially bad that the details were pre-emptively classified. I don’t think having such a regime would have benefitted anyone in particular. I hope the EO comes back with just the section on fixing bugs in critical infrastructure. That is the thing where the government can uniquely create value.
