Anthropic moved its monorepo from Git to Scion as daily merges grew more than tenfold
Anthropic also says Claude can autonomously iterate on research loops and build new services.
TLDR
Anthropic says its code changes merged per day rose from around 2,500 in May 2026 to over 30,000 by September, making source control its biggest development bottleneck. It says a seven-person team built Scion, an in-house version control system, and migrated its monorepo from Git in five months. Anthropic also says Claude can autonomously iterate on research loops, micro-optimize complex programs and build new services.
