Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to around 60,000 employees

The Information reports Microsoft said around 60,000 of its roughly 223,000 employees are eligible for voluntary buyouts as it seeks to reduce expenses amid AI investments. Sales staff are excluded, and severance depends on seniority and tenure. The report says Microsoft also plans more layoffs in 2026, primarily in its Xbox unit.
