Amazon announces data center commitments and plans more than $1 billion for local communities

Amazon says its Data Center Commitment includes working with utilities so its payments cover energy and needed grid improvements, prioritizing local hiring where possible, and publishing energy and water figures annually. Its Built Together plan would add more than $1 billion over five years to existing community spending, funding education and job training, energy-efficiency upgrades and locally chosen projects.
