Deep Agents adds tool binding, pinning and reloading for agent skills

LangChain says bound tools stay hidden until an agent reads their skill, keeping unused tools out of context.

    TLDR

LangChain says its latest Deep Agents update adds three ways to manage skills, which give AI agents task-specific instructions and files. Tools can load when an agent reads their skill; apps can pin a requested skill before the next model call or reload skills in an existing thread. On newer OpenAI and Anthropic models, LangChain says bound tools can load mid-conversation without invalidating the cached prompt prefix.

Harrison Chase@hwchase17One cool thing deepagents now supports: dynamically loading tools when is a skill is loaded Some skills require specific tools that you may not always want to have available. This now allows you to pair them With openai/anthropic models, it’s possible to do this in a way where it doesn’t break the prompt cache!1h

LangChain@LangChainTeams are narrowing in on skills as the standard for providing domain knowledge to agents. Here's how we've revamped skills in Deep Agents to meet growing demand!1h
