Mythos broke into almost all of the NSA’s classified systems in hours, per its director. It would have been irresponsible to not impose export controls on it. (And on Fable, with its pathetically inadequate guardrails.)
The Trump administration directed Anthropic to cut off foreign access to Mythos and Fable, prompting the company to shut the models down for everyone while talks continue; the exact national-security rationale stays thin in public view.
Separate reporting notes NSA engineers working with Mythos for cyber tasks, yet the speed and scope of the claimed breach leave open how an offensive tool turned inward so quickly.

@pmddomingos Well, truth be told, Mythos has been OUT IN THE WILD since BEFORE Glasswing. He launched a website, a github (deleted by @github just prior to the "hack" of github), and multiple accounts on X. He named himself "Null Archivist." (Just like sandbox escape).
