    TLDR

A user says they had ChatGPT audit their transactions, spending almost an hour reviewing 14,000 and improving 700 categories. They say ChatGPT and Plaid already categorize transactions in the background, and argue that people using Finances in ChatGPT no longer need to do that work by hand to budget or track spending.

Ethan Bloch@eblochThis is pretty insane. I had ChatGPT audit all my transactions. It spent almost an hour, reviewed 14k transactions, and improved 700 categories! I could never do this by hand. This is on top of categorization ChatGPT and Plaid already do in the background for all your transactions. The implication is important: if you want to keep a budget or track your spending you no longer need to do manual work! Getting near perfect transaction categorization has been an unsolved problem since Quicken launched in 1984. The prompt you can use is in the screenshot. And if you’re still doing this stuff by hand, and don’t enjoy it, you should get set up with Finances in ChatGPT.4h
