    TLDR

One user calls Opus 5.5 the best current model and says Astra and the new sol struggle with writing, communication and style during long automated research loops. They argue that moving to a newer model can make the experience worse, even beyond questions of coding or math ability. A reply disagrees with their view of Astra’s writing, strongly preferring it to 5.6 sol’s.

@victorveitch@DimitrisPapail I profoundly prefer astra's writing to 5.6 sol. To the point where I can't even form a mental model of the opposite preference.4h
@DimitrisPapailI think both orgs would have way happier users by optimizing cost and product for their current best models. :) It’s quite frustrating to leave your favorite model behind, expecting everything to not be worse with the newer version, to only find that the new is far enough from the old when it comes to your interactions with it (not just how good it is at code or math), that it leaves you annoyed and wondering: how hard can it be to nail down writing and persona? I guess it’s harder than solving millennium prize problems.4h
@andrewgwils@DimitrisPapail Astra seems smarter than Sol. They’re all atrocious at writing.2h
