    TLDR

A post blames alleged union corruption for what it describes as San Francisco's inability to build subway infrastructure. It also predicts California's high-speed rail will not be completed “in our lifetimes.” The user advocates deploying small self-driving buses widely, claiming they would provide cheap transportation.

@LoveCodeTradePeter nails it: San Francisco can no longer build anything like a subway system because the city is owned by corrupt unions that take all of the money long before anything gets done. This is why California's high speed rail will not be completed in our lifetimes: it's illegal to hire anyone who competes with unions and offers more. The solution: cut the parasites out by deploying mini-AV buses everywhere. Cheap transportation for all!
@humantransitThe idea that Waymo could replace public transit in dense cities makes no geometric sense. There is not enough room for all those cars. What's more, this is implicitly a NIMBY opinion, since without transit further density would be impossible because of its traffic impact.
