Neural Cellular Automata Scale to 8x Higher Resolution Using Local Neural Fields
A researcher thread and live demo are getting attention for a simple claim: treat each cell as a local neural field instead of a pixel, and neural cellular automata can scale far past their usual low-res look.
In a post on X, @Esychology said a new approach can push neural cellular automata to roughly eight times higher resolution with minimal extra parameters by treating cells as local neural fields instead of pixels. The post points readers to a live demo, and in a follow-up cited in the conversation, to a paper on arXiv and code on GitHub. So far, the public evidence is the researchers' own thread and materials.
