@ChatGPTFinances in ChatGPT is rolling out to Free and Go users in the U.S. Securely connect your accounts with @Plaid and @Experian to make sense of your money and credit, with answers based on your own financial information.5h
@eblochStarting today, Finances in ChatGPT is available in the US across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro. You no longer need a paid subscription to use it! This one means a lot to me. When I started @hellodigit back in 2012, it was a free financial chatbot that automatically saved money for you. The goal was to help as many people as possible. As Digit grew, we needed to charge to make the business sustainable. We went on to help people save over $9 billion. I'm proud of that. But charging also put the product out of reach for people we wanted to help. Making Finances in ChatGPT available for free feels like another chance to deliver on what I wanted to do from the beginning. Getting high quality financial assistance has historically been a privilege reserved for the wealthy. But getting financial help that takes your own situation into account shouldn't depend on being able to pay for it! Now you can connect your financial accounts to ChatGPT and get help grounded in your own numbers, without a paid subscription. This allows anyone in the US to get help thinking through big and small decisions with your own numbers in front of you: - What are you paying in fees and interest, and where could you save? - What would taking on college debt mean for your future? - How can you afford that first house and/or what would you have to give up to buy it? - Would a career change work financially for you and your family? There's still so much shit work that comes with modern banking, finance, and credit. We have a lot more to build to help people get back the time, money, and energy it takes from them. Removing the subscription barrier is a big step toward reaching more of the people who want help. And for our international friends, we haven't forgotten about you. We are working to open up access in more markets. Stay tuned! Lastly thank you to everyone who's tried Finances, shared feedback, and pushed us to make it better. Keep it coming. Onward!5h

@jbahrdestefanoOne day after learning @monarch_money is at 1M+ users + $100M ARR @ebloch shared that @ChatGPT made Finances FREE + in Sept they shipped credit score monitoring, stock watchlists, Voice, & Coinbase support For ChatGPT Finances, you connect your accounts via @Plaid & get dashboards on spending, subscriptions, bills, net worth, portfolio allocation, + daily moves on ur holdings Feels like it's already at parity with PFMs on the basics? Have been having a version of this debate a lot recently re: the labs eating into the app layer --> the bear case for standalone PFMs is that every incremental new user gets more expensive to acquire when a free version lives inside ChatGPT I still think there's room for both. Tech-forward users who love tinkering will prolly use ChatGPT for this stuff, but most consumers are passive and need to be acquired, educated & feel like they're working with a brand built for them The labs will take a slice of PFM but I think the biggest consumer fintech cos will still be the ones whose whole purpose is serving that customer5h
