OpenAI announces claimed AI proofs in math, computer science and physics

OpenAI says its models produced a proof of local smoothing, a refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH), and existence proofs for quantum field theories. It published AI writeups and Lean formalizations for the math and ETH claims. Ryan Williams says he, Russell Impagliazzo and Mohan Paturi were asked to help organize an open, independent examination of the ETH claim. OpenAI says a separate expert group has deferred release of the physics materials.
