All NTSB reports are public back to the 60s and FAR Part 830 (if I remember right) makes all accidents and incidents mandatory reports. Some question if minor incidents are reported well but fatalities are impossible to hide. It’ll restrict you to US based ops but that’s probably good enough. International is a bigger mess (and generally way more unsafe).

@Scobleizer @midjourney @EdgeEsmeralda A commercial flight is ~80X safer than a private or small plane flight on an hourly basis, largely due to stricter regulations, advanced equipment, and multi-pilot crews.

Scale matters. All lives matter!

this is the only general aviation plane I would feel comfortable putting my future fam and kids in

cirrus have innovated on a lot of cool safety features and have nice training facilities etc.

Per take off and landing seems like the wrong metric too.

@levelsio Definitely one of the main reasons that Cirrus just dominates the general aviation market (the parachutes are also on their propeller planes). Pretty incredible stuff

hard to pinpoint one reason bc it’s all a function of greater pilot skill variance, aircraft quality/safety/maintenance variance, and a completely different regulatory environment
