Claude starts merging Chat and Cowork into one experience

@felixriesebergToday, we're combining Cowork and Chat into one Claude. You can fire off questions and then turn to serious work in the same conversation. When your computer is open, Claude can use your local files and apps - and if you close it, Claude will keep working with its own computer in the cloud.

@mikeykClaude Cowork and Chat are now one Claude, starting today. The most common thing we hear: people aren't sure which product to start with. That friction gets in the way of getting the best from what these models can do. I've been on the unified version for a few weeks and really enjoy it. Claude does the deciding about how to get there, while I get to keep my thinking on the work itself. Let us know what you think! We'll be getting it dialed in over the coming weeks.

@bchernyClaude Code showed that AI could do real work, not just answer questions. Developers hand Claude a feature, come back to shipped code. That's where much of the industry's serious engineering runs now. Cowork proved knowledge workers could do the same: hand Claude the brief, come back to finished files. Today, chat and Cowork start merging into one Claude. The direction: one Claude that carries context across everything you're working on, wherever you are. Simple enough for everyone to access Claude's full capabilities. I've been using this experience every day for the last few weeks, and it feels awesome. Simpler, faster, and more powerful. We're rolling this out slowly. We'll be fine-tuning the experience as we go to ensure it is fast and reliable. Can't wait to hear what you think.

@_catwuToday, we are merging Claude Cowork and chat to simplify how you use Claude! We are also integrating Claude Design so that you can ask Claude to make a Slide, Design, or Doc without needing to switch tabs or apps. Many of you shared that you didn't want to choose which Claude product to use for any task. As Claude models have become more capable, we've found that Claude can handle the routing for you. Based on your prompt, Claude will decide whether to give a quick answer or do deeper agentic work, and what kind of output best fits the task. You're in control the whole time: you can still stop, redirect, or exert finer control over Claude's effort or approach. Give it a try and let us know what you think. We're rolling this out slowly over the next few weeks to get it right.

@petergyangChat and Cowork being separate was an anti-pattern I'm glad to see the Claude team simplify it! I hope OpenAI also simplifies Chat, Work, and Codex soon. Tabs is the new hamburger menu.

@trq212Claude Code can now make docs and slides as artifacts, so you can share and collaborate with other people on your team. For example, ask Claude to make a spec as a doc, share it to your teammates for feedback, and when it's ready ask Claude to implement.

In our demo, @claudeai reviews a borrower’s deal workspace, creates a five-slide presentation with financial visuals and source references, and flags conflicting information for review. We leave a comment directly on a slide, Claude revises it, and the finished deck is exported as PowerPoint and uploaded back to Box through MCP for the credit team to review. Connect Box to Claude to create and refine presentations using your enterprise content.
