Chinese doomers are bizarrely bearish on Unitree Do they just have a reflex that any leading domestic company must be a scam?

Humanoids won't sell until they do a wide variety of things, not just entertainment.

Everyone in robotics says the world models that will run them just aren't ready for even most factory jobs, not to mention home uses.

Plus, home users can't afford one. Most homes around the world have nothing that's more expensive than $2,000 in them.

I see a business of renting them around to neighbors, but that requires robotaxis, which aren't yet available cheaply and consistently.

Until then they are for research or rich people.

I hear that a generalized world model that is capable of meeting home expectations (safety too) is still at least 18 months away, and could be five to seven years away.

That said, I was standing with a billionaire at @1x_tech who told me he wants to put $200 million into Unitree, but was kept from doing so because the Chinese government was keeping American money out of pre-IPO investing in this company.
