OpenAI plans shared ChatGPT and Codex usage limits starting in December
ChatGPT and Codex will share a token-based allowance on OpenAI's Plus, Pro and Business plans; instant chat won't count.
TLDR
The December change accompanies OpenAI's move to bring Work's agentic capabilities into the main ChatGPT experience. How much of the shared allowance a request uses will depend on the model and task. OpenAI expects most users won't need to wait for a reset more often than they do now. Users will be able to see combined remaining usage and reset times in Settings → Usage.
